2011 CRIT alum Jarrod Faucher is a current internal medicine chief resident at Saint Vincent Hospital.  As a budding geriatrician (Jarrod is slated to begin his geriatrics fellowship at UMass in July), he spoke to CRIT faculty last year in Ogunquit of his passion for delirium prevention in older adults – mindful of the cognitive and functional decline that often times persists even after resolution of a hospital delirium.

Toward that end, Jarrod worked with his geriatrician mentor this year to develop a delirium prevention checklist that could be incorporated as an electronic order set into the new Computerized Physician Order Entry (CPOE) system at Saint Vincent’s.  Jarrod was able to construct the new delirium checklist after a thorough literature search and reviewing other institutions’ protocols.

You can access his checklist, his proposed Action Plan, at the attached link.  Jarrod’s project is scheduled for discussion at next month’s CPOE Governance meeting and will hopefully be implemented shortly thereafter.
